The complete appearance of a pineapple is shown on the right. We are using the core leaves from the base of the pineapple to make 'pineapple fiber' and 'pineapple residue'. For every tonne of pineapple fruit produced, 3 tonnes of pineapple leaf agricultural waste is generated. The global pineapple agriculture generates approximately 87 million tonnes of waste per year.
So, where does the use of pineapple leaves come into play in the creation of pineapple fiber and pineapple residue?
1. Pineapple fiber can be made into clothing, functional fabrics, leather, and medical dressings.
2. Pineapple residue can be used in environmentally friendly materials, everyday items like dinner plates and cutlery, and medical materials.

有效地提高衣用性能與視覺效果。在服裝的紡織品應用中,生物法取纖維與直接機械取纖維的強度與細度相比,纖維的產量和細度皆較佳。以及透過新製程新設備投入,推出短纖、母粒、粉末、酵素之複合性材料、功能性材料、醫療材料等應用。
